Moana, étudiante en Erasmus+

Arrivée dans le cadre du programme d’échanges Erasmus+ à l’Isara, Moana a intégré pour un semestre le MSc Agroecolgy.

Qu’as-tu étudié ?
Depuis 4 ans, j’étudie les sciences de l’environnement à l’Université tchèque des sciences de la vie à Prague. Je suis inscrite au programme d’études sur la foresterie tropicale et l’agroforesterie. L’enthousiasme et ma passion pour les sciences de l’environnement sont nés lors de mon programme de licence à l’Université Mendel de Brno, où j’ai étudié la gestion des ressources naturelles dans les régions tropicales et subtropicales.

Pourquoi avoir choisi l’Isara ?

Je cherchais un cours enseigné en anglais mais je voulais être en France, car j’ai appris le français. J’ai trouvé ce cours qui m’a semblé être un choix parfait, grâce à son lien avec l’agroforesterie. De mon point de vue, le programme d’agroforesterie de mon université se concentre uniquement sur le secteur forestier et il manque la partie agronomique. J’ai donc décidé d’essayer de pallier mon manque de connaissances avec le cours d’agroécologie proposé par l’Isara. Jusqu’à présent, je suis très enthousiasmée par ce programme, surtout par les sorties prévues sur le terrain .

Quelle a été ta première impression de l’école ?
La gentillesse et la disponibilité des enseignants et du personnel. Tout était bien préparé pour notre arrivée. Les étudiants de l’association Isar’rivent ont organisé une journée d’accueil chaleureuse, ce qui nous a définitivement aidés à nous connaître. Avec d’autres étudiants internationaux, j’ai suivi une semaine de cours de français intensif, qui était vraiment bien enseigné. Non seulement cela m’a aidé à me débarrasser de la peur de parler une langue étrangère, mais nous avons également eu l’occasion d’explorer la ville lors d’une excursion d’une journée.

Et la France ?

C’est mon premier séjour de longue durée en France. Jusqu’à présent, cela a été vraiment excitant. J’adorerais prolonger le séjour en France et trouver un stage lié à l’agroécologie, idéalement en étroite collaboration avec les agriculteurs.

Quel est ton projet professionnel ?
J’ai eu l’opportunité de travailler sur des projets environnementaux en Afrique qui ont considérablement influencé ma vie. Je serais ravie de continuer à travailler sur des projets similaires dans un proche avenir, et après, qui sait …

J’admire le travail des AMAP en France. En République tchèque la plupart des gens n’en ont jamais entendu parler. Par conséquent, peut-être m’installer dans une ferme… ? Cela peut sembler un peu idéologique, mais on ne sait jamais ce que la vie nous prépare, non ? Actuellement, je me sens simplement satisfaite d’être sur la bonne voie, de faire ce que j’aime…

Un petit mot pour conclure ?
Je suis vraiment heureuse d’être ici et je l’apprécie encore plus à cause des complications rencontrées lors du processus de candidature. Au tout début, on m’a dit qu’il n’était pas possible d’aller à l’étranger, et maintenant je suis ici ! Par conséquent, pour conclure, je dirais «n’abandonnez jamais» !

What did you study?

Since 4 years, I have been studying environmental sciences. I am based at Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, where I am enrolled to Tropical Forestry and Agroforestry study program. The enthusiasm and love for environmental science I obtained during my bachelor program at Mendel University in Brno, where I studied Management of Nature Resources in the Tropics and Subtropics.

Why did you choose Isara to do this semester?

I was searching for a course taught in English but I wanted to be in France, as I had been learning French language. I found this course and it seemed to be a perfect choice, thanks to its link to agroforestry. From my point of view, the Agroforestry program at my university is focused only on the forestry sector and is lacking the agronomy part.  Therefore, I decided to try to catch up on my lack of knowledge here at ISARA at the Agroecology course. So far, I am very excited, especially about the planned fieldtrips.

What was your first impression of Isara?

The kindness and helpfulness of the teachers and the staff.  Everything was well prepared for our arrival. The students from the Isar’rivent association arranged a warm welcoming day what definitely helped us with getting know each other. Along with other international students, I took a week of intensive French course, which was really well taught. Not only it helped me get rid of the fear of speaking a foreign language, but we also had an opportunity to explore the city during a day trip!

What about France?

This is my first long term stay in France. So far, it is been truly exciting. I would love to prolong the stay in France and find an internship linked to agroecology, ideally any in close cooperation with farmers.  

And Later ? Ideas for a future job?

I had an opportunity to work on environmental project in Africa and I that significantly influenced my life. Definitely, I would love to continue working on similar projects in the near future, and afterwards, who knows… I admire well working AMAP in France, in Czech Republic most of the people have never even heard about that. Therefore, maybe settling on a farm, being part of that…? This might sound a little ideological, but one never knows what life’s preparing for us, right? Currently, I just feel satisfied being on the right way, doing what I enjoy…

To conclude?

I am truly happy to be here, and I appreciate it even more thanks to complications which emerged during the application process. At the very beginning I was told it was not possible to go abroad, and now I am here! Therefore, to conclude I would say “never give up”!
